Sweden crypto tax questions.
How much tax do you pay on crypto in Sweden?
+
Sweden taxes crypto capital gains at a flat 30% rate. There is no reduced rate for long-term holdings and no tax-free allowance for crypto gains. Every profitable disposal — selling, swapping, or spending crypto — is taxable at 30%.
How do I report crypto on the K4 form in Sweden?
+
Swedish taxpayers report crypto disposals on the K4 form (Försäljning av värdepapper). You list each disposal with the sale price and cost basis. Skatteverket requires all crypto transactions to be reported, and they receive data from Swedish exchanges to cross-check your filings.
Does Skatteverket track crypto transactions?
+
Yes. Skatteverket receives transaction data from Swedish crypto exchanges and can request information from international platforms. They use this data to identify taxpayers who may not have reported crypto gains. Under-reporting crypto income can result in penalties and back taxes.
How long does it take?
+
Most reports are completed within 10 calendar days after we receive your complete data.
What about previous tax years?
+
We handle multi-year filings. You can submit corrections (ömprövning) to Skatteverket for up to 6 previous tax years.
